“Extraordinary Sisters Performing Outstanding Community Service”
Welcome to the website of Tau Pi Omega chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated. The extraordinary members of Tau Pi Omega, who are diverse, dynamic and talented, “Strive and do things that are worthwhile” to better their communities. In keeping with the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority national program targets, Tau Pi Omega has developed and implemented quality program initiatives and strategies to address the health, economic and educational needs of the citizens of Stone Mountain and Lithonia, Georgia, since 1993. Program initiatives have included awarding over $30,000 in scholarships to graduating high school seniors for post-secondary education; conducting weekly reading tutorials for elementary students in the primary grades and providing financial literacy seminars for the black family.
Recognizing the importance of programs to help alleviate some of the health conditions, which contribute to the African-American population, Tau Pi Omega applied for and was awarded two Steps to a Healthier DeKalb Community Small Grants. We also proudly serve as the graduate chapter sponsor for the undergraduate chapter, Sigma Phi, at Mercer University (Cecil B. Day campus) Atlanta, Georgia.
The members of Tau Pi Omega treasure and vow to uphold the legacy of our Founders by ensuring that Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority remains “Supreme in Service to All Mankind”. If you are a member with a burning desire to be of service and are committed to upholding the legacy, we invite you to join us. We warmly welcome all members with sisterly love as we move toward celebrating one hundred years of true sisterhood and service.
Sincerely,
Doretha Ross President 2007-2009
